analiz\u00f3 en detalle los efectos del uso del antibi\u00f3tico florfenicol sobre las comunidades microbianas presentes en los sedimentos marinos bajo centros de cultivo de salm\u00f3n en el sur del pa\u00eds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La investigaci\u00f3n, publicada recientemente en la revista cient\u00edfica Antibiotics (MDPI, 2025), fue desarrollada por el investigador Sergio Lynch, de la Fac. de Recursos Naturales y Medicina Veterinaria de la Universidad Santo Tom\u00e1s; Pamela Thomson (Universidad Andr\u00e9s Bello), Rodrigo Santiba\u00f1ez (Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Chile) y Rub\u00e9n Avenda\u00f1o-Herrera (Universidad Andr\u00e9s Bello \/ INCAR \/ CIMARQ).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El estudio \u2014titulado \u201cInfluence of Florfenicol Treatments on Marine-Sediment Microbiomes: A Metagenomic Study of Bacterial Communities in Proximity to Salmon Aquaculture in Southern Chile\u201d\u2014 evalu\u00f3 los cambios estructurales y funcionales de las comunidades bacterianas en sedimentos de tres centros salmonicultores en la Regi\u00f3n de Los Lagos, dos de ellos tratados con florfenicol y un tercero sin tratamiento (control).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Los resultados mostraron que los sedimentos expuestos al antibi\u00f3tico presentaron una reducci\u00f3n significativa de la diversidad microbiana y un aumento de bacterias anaerobias y potencialmente resistentes, como las pertenecientes a los filos Bacteroidota y Desulfobacterota.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En contraste, los sedimentos del sitio control mantuvieron una comunidad m\u00e1s diversa y equilibrada, reflejando condiciones menos perturbadas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEl florfenicol modifica la estructura y funciones de las comunidades microbianas del fondo marino, reduciendo la diversidad y favoreciendo grupos resistentes o adaptados a condiciones de estr\u00e9s\u201d, se\u00f1alan los autores.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El an\u00e1lisis metagen\u00f3mico tambi\u00e9n identific\u00f3 cambios funcionales relevantes en los microorganismos: en las zonas tratadas se observ\u00f3 un aumento en rutas metab\u00f3licas relacionadas con la s\u00edntesis de L-metionina \u2014vinculada al ciclo del azufre\u2014 y una mayor actividad en la oxidaci\u00f3n de \u00e1cidos grasos, lo que refleja una adaptaci\u00f3n a ambientes enriquecidos con materia org\u00e1nica.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Estas transformaciones, seg\u00fan los investigadores, podr\u00edan afectar procesos biogeoqu\u00edmicos clave como la degradaci\u00f3n de materia org\u00e1nica, la circulaci\u00f3n de nutrientes y la resiliencia de los ecosistemas bent\u00f3nicos, adem\u00e1s de favorecer la persistencia de genes de resistencia antimicrobiana en los sedimentos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEstos resultados subrayan las consecuencias ecol\u00f3gicas del uso de antimicrobianos en la acuicultura y la necesidad de promover estrategias de manejo m\u00e1s sostenibles\u201d, concluye el estudio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El trabajo fue financiado por el programa FONDAP N\u00b0 1523A0007 de la Agencia Nacional de Investigaci\u00f3n y Desarrollo (ANID) y cont\u00f3 con el apoyo del Centro Interdisciplinario para la Investigaci\u00f3n Acu\u00edcola (INCAR), reafirmando la importancia de la
