{"id":85884,"date":"2026-02-25T10:33:23","date_gmt":"2026-02-25T14:33:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mundoacuicola.cl\/new\/?p=85884"},"modified":"2026-02-25T17:24:05","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T21:24:05","slug":"startup-japonesa-logra-criar-salmon-cherry-de-4-kg-mediante-mejoramiento-genetico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mundoacuicola.cl\/new\/startup-japonesa-logra-criar-salmon-cherry-de-4-kg-mediante-mejoramiento-genetico\/","title":{"rendered":"Startup japonesa logra criar salm\u00f3n cherry de 4 kg mediante mejoramiento gen\u00e9tico"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"287\" data-end=\"621\">La empresa japonesa Smolt Inc. logr\u00f3 criar por primera vez un salm\u00f3n cherry de cultivo que alcanza los 4 kg, hito obtenido tras un periodo de engorda prolongado de tres a\u00f1os y mediante la combinaci\u00f3n de alevines resistentes a altas temperaturas y tecnolog\u00eda de triploid\u00eda totalmente femenina.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"623\" data-end=\"1145\">Smolt, una startup de base universitaria con sede en la ciudad de Miyazaki, inform\u00f3 que el resultado fue posible gracias a la integraci\u00f3n de dos desarrollos tecnol\u00f3gicos clave. Por una parte, el uso de salm\u00f3n cherry con tolerancia a temperaturas cercanas a los 20 \u00b0C, obtenido mediante selecci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica a lo largo de seis generaciones. Por otra, la aplicaci\u00f3n de la triploid\u00eda totalmente femenina, t\u00e9cnica que inhibe la maduraci\u00f3n sexual y permite destinar la energ\u00eda del pez al crecimiento corporal.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1147\" data-end=\"1693\">Tradicionalmente, los salmones y truchas se cultivan en aguas inferiores a 18 \u00b0C, lo que ha generado crecientes dificultades productivas en un escenario de aumento sostenido de la temperatura del mar. De acuerdo con datos de la Agencia Meteorol\u00f3gica de Jap\u00f3n, la temperatura media superficial del mar en aguas cercanas al pa\u00eds ha aumentado 1,33 \u00b0C por siglo, aproximadamente el doble del promedio global. Este fen\u00f3meno ha reducido progresivamente las \u00e1reas aptas para el cultivo de salm\u00f3nidos y ha acortado los ciclos productivos.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1695\" data-end=\"2022\">En este contexto, Smolt indic\u00f3 que el salm\u00f3n cherry desarrollado con su tecnolog\u00eda puede mantener un crecimiento estable en condiciones t\u00e9rmicas m\u00e1s elevadas, lo que abre nuevas posibilidades para la acuicultura en regiones m\u00e1s c\u00e1lidas y contribuye a una mayor estabilidad productiva frente al calentamiento global.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1695\" data-end=\"2022\"><strong>Metodolog\u00eda<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2024\" data-end=\"2535\">La triploid\u00eda totalmente femenina, utilizada en este desarrollo, fue reconocida en 2021 con el Japan Science and Technology Agency Chairman\u2019s Award, en el marco de los STI for SDGs Awards. Al suprimir la maduraci\u00f3n sexual, esta t\u00e9cnica permite extender significativamente los periodos de engorda, superando los tama\u00f1os habituales del salm\u00f3n cherry cultivado, que tradicionalmente no alcanza grandes dimensiones en comparaci\u00f3n con otras especies como el salm\u00f3n del Atl\u00e1ntico o el salm\u00f3n coho.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2537\" data-end=\"2846\">El cultivo se realiz\u00f3 en instalaciones propias de Smolt en la prefectura de Miyazaki, alcanzando el peso final de 4 kg tras tres a\u00f1os de crianza. Seg\u00fan la empresa, este tama\u00f1o es poco com\u00fan para el salm\u00f3n cherry en sistemas de cultivo y ampl\u00eda las posibilidades de desarrollo productivo de la especie.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2848\" data-end=\"3251\">De cara al futuro, Smolt inform\u00f3 que trabajar\u00e1 en la optimizaci\u00f3n del periodo de engorda con el objetivo de avanzar hacia la producci\u00f3n a escala.
