La ruta que sigue el chorito o mejill\u00f3n chileno para llegar a m\u00e1s de 70 mercados del mundo, fue el recorrido que realiz\u00f3 en \u00a0Chilo\u00e9 el Director General de ProChile, Ignacio Fern\u00e1ndez, durante una visita al coraz\u00f3n de la industria mitilicultora, uno de los sectores m\u00e1s relevantes para las exportaciones de la Regi\u00f3n de Los Lagos y del sur de Chile. La agenda permiti\u00f3 conocer en terreno el proceso productivo, tecnol\u00f3gico y log\u00edstico que hoy posiciona al mejill\u00f3n chileno en mercados de Am\u00e9rica, Europa y Asia.<\/p>\n

La jornada comenz\u00f3 en Castro con una reuni\u00f3n junto a AmiChile, para posteriormente trasladarse hasta Dalcahue y recorrer la planta de proceso de Sudmaris, donde conoci\u00f3 en terreno el procesamiento industrial del mejill\u00f3n chileno. M\u00e1s tarde, visit\u00f3 un centro de cultivo de Pesquera Apiao perteneciente a St. Andrews donde pudo observar la producci\u00f3n y cosecha del mejill\u00f3n. Ambas empresas exportan este producto a distintos mercados internacionales.<\/p>\n

\u201cEstamos terminando una visita muy relevante a Chilo\u00e9, una zona que concentra gran parte de la producci\u00f3n de mejillones de Chile. Pudimos conocer en terreno todo el proceso productivo, desde la cosecha hasta c\u00f3mo este producto llega congelado a distintos mercados internacionales. Tambi\u00e9n vimos el nivel de tecnolog\u00eda, el trabajo que hay detr\u00e1s de esta industria y el importante aporte que realiza en generaci\u00f3n de empleo para el sur del pa\u00eds\u201d, destac\u00f3 Ignacio Fern\u00e1ndez, Director General de ProChile.<\/p>\n

Agreg\u00f3 que \u201cdesde ProChile queremos seguir apoyando decididamente al sector, especialmente a trav\u00e9s de la marca sectorial y la apertura de nuevos mercados para continuar potenciando las exportaciones chilenas\u201d.<\/p>\n

De acuerdo a cifras de estudios de ProChile, elaboradas en base a informaci\u00f3n del Servicio Nacional de Aduanas, las exportaciones de mejillones totalizaron US$297 millones durante 2025, posicion\u00e1ndose como el cuarto producto m\u00e1s exportado del macrosector pesca y acuicultura, despu\u00e9s del salm\u00f3n y trucha, harinas de pescado y jurel. Los principales destinos fueron Espa\u00f1a, Estados Unidos, Rusia, Italia y Francia.<\/p>\n

Marca sectorial<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Actualmente, ProChile junto a AmiChile y empresas del sector impulsan la marca sectorial \u201cChile Mussel from Patagonia\u201d, iniciativa enfocada principalmente en el mercado mexicano y orientada a fortalecer el posicionamiento internacional del mejill\u00f3n chileno en mercados con alto potencial de crecimiento.<\/p>\n

\u201cHoy estamos enfocados fuertemente en M\u00e9xico a trav\u00e9s de la marca sectorial, desarrollando acciones comerciales y de promoci\u00f3n para seguir creciendo en ese mercado. El apoyo de ProChile ha sido fundamental para fortalecer el posicionamiento internacional del mejill\u00f3n chileno\u201d, sostuvo Jos\u00e9 Undurraga, gerente comercial de Sudmaris.<\/p>\n

Desde el gremio destacaron la relevancia de este tipo de visitas. \u201cDetr\u00e1s del mejill\u00f3n chileno hay un enorme trabajo humano, tecnol\u00f3gico y log\u00edstico para poder llegar competitivamente a m\u00e1s de 70 mercados internacionales. Este tipo de visitas fortalece la articulaci\u00f3n p\u00fablico-privada para seguir posicionando a Chilo\u00e9 y al sur de Chile como referentes mundiales de esta industria\u201d, puntualiz\u00f3 Rodrigo Carrasco, director ejecutivo de AmiChile.<\/p>\n

\u201cEs fundamental que las autoridades conozcan en terreno la realidad de la industria, especialmente el trabajo que existe detr\u00e1s de la siembra, cosecha y producci\u00f3n. Hoy adem\u00e1s vemos mercados internacionales muy demandantes, lo que representa una gran oportunidad para el sector\u201d, indic\u00f3 Eduardo Ferrari, gerente zonal de St. Andrews.<\/p>\n

En la Regi\u00f3n de Los Lagos, esta industria del mejill\u00f3n se ha transformado adem\u00e1s en un importante motor de desarrollo territorial. As\u00ed, lo afirm\u00f3 Ricardo Arriagada, director regional de ProChile Los Lagos: \u201cLa mitilicultura tiene una enorme relevancia para la Regi\u00f3n de Los Lagos y para Chile, considerando que el pa\u00eds es uno de los principales exportadores mundiales de mejill\u00f3n. Esta industria genera empleo, desarrollo territorial y posiciona un producto de alto valor en mercados internacionales\u201d.<\/p>\n
